National Stroke
Association (NSA): for more information on stroke prevention, acute care of stroke,

Brain attack is closely related to heart attack, both diseases are caused by
cardiovascular disease and both stroke and heart attack require emergency medical
treatment.
National Institute
of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) maintains an excellent website at http://www.ninds.nih.gov. NINDS is an
agency of the U.S. Federal Government and a component of the National Institutes of Health
and the U.S. Public Health Service. NINDS is a leading supporter of biomedical research on
disorders of the brain and nervous system, including stroke/brain attack.
