Breast Cancer Diagnosis

If a breast abnormality is detected with mammography or physical exam, a woman will typically be referred for additional breast imaging with diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, or other imaging tests. Depending on the results of these imaging tests, she may be referred for a breast biopsy. Biopsy is the only definitive way to determine whether cancer is present. This section discusses all aspects of the breast cancer diagnostic process, including recent advances in breast imaging, and breast biopsy.
